Restaurant Websites Making your website great... Your restaurant is either fun, cool, or classy. You already know this, as do your regular patrons. But no one else knows what you're like. In fact, a lot of people don't even know you exist. That's where your website comes in. It serves as a medium for communicating what kind of unique atmosphere your place possesses. People can check you out on the web, peruse your menu, and ideally, see some great photos of your delicious food, without ever leaving their home. The Problem with Local Restaurant Websites.....the food looks gross Here's the major problem with almost every locally-owned, family-run restaurant that has a website: they have lousy pictures of their food. It simply looks disgusting. That's what all food looks like when you use your cheap digital camera and no proper lighting. It makes people want to yack... or at least avoid the restaurant. If you visit Applebees online, Ruby Tuesday, or the like, one of the primary ingredients to their websites is amazing, mouth-watering pictures of delicious food. These pictures make people want to eat even if they're not hungry. If you're a restaurant owner, that's what you need to do with your website. If you don't have the kind of pictures you need, we will set up a special photography session before the rest of your web design project begins. Once I've got great pictures, I can make a great site. You need menus with more than prices. The best menus contain colorful descriptions of their food along with great pictures. If you can't convince them by sight, help them choose by fueling their tastebuds' imagination. Which sounds better? A) Steak and potatoes B) A tender, juicy sirloin served with steaming, garlic-butter potatoes By spending a little extra time on the way you describe your food you can get people much more excited about what's on the menu. |
